The presidential aspirant William Ruto has said that making the free Mombasa port is among his plans when he becomes the country’s president in order to increases job opportunities for youths.
He said already government’s plans to make it free were interfered with by corrupt individuals who are only benefiting from the port instead of endorsing the port to be a free one so that unemployed youths can be employed.
Ruto who is also the Eldoret North MP added that the port is benefiting individuals under top government officials but warned them to pack and go by next year since UDM government will not tolerate them.
He was accompanied by Kilifi town mayor Esther Kache, Malindi Mayoy Samson Mapinga, Kilifi county chairman Anthony Kingi and Kisauni political activists Anania Mwaboza among other politicalleaders.
“Time for such people in the country is expiring since they will have no room to operate. We give them notice to move out of the country because we will make the port a free one so that youths can be employed,” he added.
The Member of Parliament also added that there was a need of changing the railway line from Mombasa to Malaba to a modern one.
He said the railway line could have been changed already but corrupt leaders have taken advantage and decided to benefit from the railway.
“The line of corrupt leaders benefiting from our own resources while the people while the resources comes from does not benefit will ceases to exist in UDM government that why Coast residents you should join the party and move together for the sake of your rights,” he asserted.
Ruto urged Coast leaders to stand firm and take their positions in the Coast region and the country’s leadership as well which he said is their right.
“Let’s join hands together and build a new Kenya together. I have said many times that I am not looking for supporters but people whom we can cooperate and build a new Kenya together.
He urged Kenyans to obtain UDM registration cards and register earlier so that no body is left behind before general election.
The presidential aspirant however assured those willing to contest for different positions in the county through UDM that there will be gender equality and that all positions will be divided equally.
“Ladies who are willing to use UDM party for positions feel free there is what is referred as gender equality in division of positions. You have an opportunity to look for seats as no one will be victimized or even intimidation in UDM,” he assured.
He made the remarks at Matsangoni in Kilifi County at fund drive for Uyombo primary school which has remained in bad state for many years.
Kisauni political aspirant Anania Mwaboza said already registration cards were available at all counties d for registration.
“We should start registering ourselves to the UDM party so that when the leadership of this country is officially handed to UDM we will not be behind like other times because we will part of the party and not supporters,” he appealed.
Anania said the time for Coast people being supporters of political parties are gone saying they will now join the UDM party in forming the party for the sake of the coast people’s grievances which he said have not been solved by any government.
“How many governments have reigned and yet not even one of them leave alone being at the front line to support them which have assisted Coast people we are tired now we either have a president or Vice president nothing less than that,” he noted with concern.
At the same time Kilifi town mayor Mrs. Esther Kache was heckled by residents who waved Ruto and asked to proclaim her party since she had been seen many times in ODM rallies and even at the recently grass roots elections.
