President Mwai Kibaki has urged newly weds to respect the institution of marriage, saying it is one of the strong pillars of the nation's well-being.
President Kibaki particularly advised young couples to uphold strong family values in order to have successful marriages.
"You should also remain firm in your religious faith and pray together for God's guidance in your life journey," President Kibaki advised married couples.
The President was speaking on Friday at the Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Ruaraka, Nairobi during the wedding of Julia Wairimu Kamotho and James Wanderi Kairu.
The groom is the son of former Kieni Member of Parliament the late Munene Kairu and Mrs. Lucy Kairu while the bride is the daughter of Mr. Naftali Kamotho and Mrs. Diana Kamotho.
The ceremony was conducted by Father Martin Ndegwa who was assisted by Father Vincent Macharia of the Ruaraka Catholic Parish.
Delivering the sermon, Father Ndegwa called on the newlyweds to guard against worldly temptations that could be detrimental to their marriage.
