KCPE results to be released Wednesday

The number of class eight candidates rose from 754,000 in 2010 to 775,839 this year registering an increase of 21,731 or 2.9%.
The Ministry of Education will be releasing examination results for over 775, 000 candidates who sat the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams ON Wednesday.
It is a moment of consternation for many as the next hurdle will be just how many of these gallant children will get form one places come January.
 
The time for sitting examinations is usually a moment of great reflection. It is the time when those who are well prepared face the examinations with pride and hope while those who are not well prepared it is a time for utter disbelief as the questions get harder.
 
Out a large number of over 1.3 million candidates who sat various other examinations, during the examination period over 775,000 candidates sat the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education – KCPE between November the 8th and 10th.
 
The Kenya National Examination Council employed the services of over 180,000 contracted professionals including examiners to assist in handling examinations.

For the first time in its history the KNEC used ICT in the registration of candidates under the E-registration program; At the briefing held at Mitihani House in Nairobi, KNEC CEO Paul Wasanga noted that examinations are the barometers of quality education in many countries and hence their validity and reliability which are determined by their management are therefore of paramount importance.
Education PS Prof James Ole Kiyiapi noted that examinations play a key role and especially in the globally competitive fast world adding that apart from being used for selection and placement, one’s entire career is to a large extent on one’s academic achievements.
Examination performance also helps employees to assess the abilities of an individual.
 
As officers involved in this process, we must therefore ensure that they are run efficiently for the results to be a true reflection of learning achievements.
 “We therefore need to strategize on the way we shall handle challenges in the field by being acquainted with the preparations put in place to enhance security and efficiency in the management of the 2011 examinations,” said Kiyiapi.
