A large-scale dairy farmer at Banita in Rongai District is appealing to the Police to assist her recover her stolen cows worth Sh1.8 million.
The 13 pure breed Freshians were stolen two weeks ago and are feared to have been sold to unsuspecting slaughterhouses during the festive season.
Halima Nwima Noor, the owner of Muwa farm, said her efforts to trace the animals have remained fruitless even after sending some of her workers to slaughter houses in Dagoretti, Mogotio, Nakuru and Esageri.
"This is a big loss to me and other dairy farmers in the region. The Government must do something to stop such incidents", said Mrs Noor.
Mrs Noor who had a total of 71 cows feared that if nothing is done those behind the theft might strike again.
She said although she reported the matter at the Anti Stock Theft Unit post at Olbonata, nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Four years ago, the farmer lost 140 goats under similar circumstances and expressed fears the trend would affect her farming activities if not checked.
