A top lawyer was thoroughly put out when he failed to get re-appointed to a public office he has held since 2008. The man had lobbied and canvassed influential people in the Office of the President and others in the Office of the Prime Minister to get their support for his appointment. The man had also been rated tops by the selection panel and was only expecting the formal announcement to be made. The lawyer was in shock when instead of his name, the President appointed another candidate who was the selection panel's second choice.

Lawyer Paul Mwangi whom has been widely speculated as the man to replace Miguna Miguna as Prime Minister Raila Odinga's advisor on constitutional affairs is in the dark about the pending appointment. Some of the top officials in the PM's office who are Mwangi's close friends do not seem to have given him a hint that he was being considered.

Did a member of the First Family prevail upon the organisers of the Jamhuri Day celebrations to give the Mama Lucy choir more time to show their prowess? Whatever the situation, it was a great honour for the choir which not only presented three original songs but also got to perform the national anthem.

Athletes who did duty for the country during the All Africa Games and won medals have yet to receive the cash rewards promised to them by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports which hosted a lavish celebratory event for them at the KICC last month . The unhappy athletes are now threatening to make public the mistreatment they received from the officials when they went to Maputo unless they make good their promise.
