A Cabinet minister seems to have developed a phobia for Mombasa based journalists. Apparently, the minister, who has in the past made controversial statements while in the coastal city, told an MP how she had contemplated avoiding an official function at a Mombasa hotel. On Monday, our tipster overheard the minister complaining to the chairman of a parliamentary select committee that she feared what would appear in the papers the following day, alleging that she is always quoted out of context.

The man was spotted driving from the Sankara Hotel in a top-of-the-range car. Following closely behind him was a chase car with two mean-looking men dressed in black suits. "Kwani amekuwa waziri?" quiped a man who noticed the controversial businessman's antics.

A candidate who lost in the just concluded Kitutu Masaba by-election almost came to blows with an agent of a rival candidate when they met on the streets of Nairobi on Tuesday. The loser told the agent that his single act of defecting to MP elect Walter Nyambati’s camp at the last minute may have boosted Nyambati in his home area while branding him a traitor. When the exchange got 'hot', the loser became agitated and went for the agent’s collar only for their mutual friend to restrain them.
