Makadara MP Mike Mbuvi aka Sonko and his Juja counterpart William Kabogo yesterday told off their party leader Martha Karua over threats to expel them. The two told Karua that she had no moral authority to discipline them for allegedly campaigning for PNU's Yusuf Hassan in the just concluded Kamkunji by election. “Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is public knowledge that in the month of May 2011, Martha Karua, the party leader openly campaigned for Bonny Khalwale, a member of new Ford Kenya, during the by-election held in Ikolomani,” the two argue in a letter.
Sonko and Kabogo said they have neither violated the Political Parties' Act nor the Narc Kenya constitution by supporting or associating with the PNU. In a letter to the party secretary generalDanson Mungatana, the two MPs denied breaching provisions of the Political Parties' Act 2007. The letter is written through Havi and Company Advocates on the August 26 and is in response to the party's letter to the two asking them to show cause why they should not face disciplinary action.
The two further argue that Narc Kenya is a member of the PNU coalition, clear in an agreement signed by Karua, Mungatana and NjeruGithae. “In addition Mohamed Kuti, Katoo ole Metito, Githae and Asman Kamama are serving as ministers in the coalition government and are members of the party,” the letter reads in part. Sonko and Kabogo too say they have been talking with Uhuru, Raila and Eugene with ' a view to convincing to join the party.'
