Low quality work. The stretch of road between the old entrance to Kisumu Airport and the new one is undergoing repairs, but Liam Campbell has doubts about the quality of the work being done. Says he: “It was not two or three but many holes being dug out to be refilled. There was about two inches of tarmac on gravel. This, surely, is not the type of surface to carry 40-plus ton lorries.” The engineers supervising this can do better, he says. His contact is liam60f@gmail.com.

Your fax is back. Ruiru’s Royal College of Science and Technology’s Internet-cum-fax line, No. 0675855143, which has been out of order, has been restored, says Telkom Kenya head of corporate affairs Anne Ng’ang’a-Mumo, apologising for the inconvenience suffered. She says college director R. T. Kamau is apparently on leave, and the receptionist couldn’t confirm whether the line was working because his office was locked. In the meantime, the broadband team is looking into the Internet problem.

Dumping rampant. The rural township of Kiserian, south of Nairobi, is having a serious garbage disposal problem, but to blame for making the situation worse are the residents who have been shamelessly dumping litter at the local market, says Daniel Mwangi. Daniel is disappointed that public health officials of the Olkejuado County Council have not taken any steps to stop the dumping, exposing the residents to a possible outbreak of disease. He can be reached through danielsmwa@facebook.com.

Sign of things to come? Congratulating Yusuf Hassan on his election as the MP for Kamukunji, Onyango Olare says this is the second setback for ODM stalwarts, who had bragged about their party’s chances before the Ikolomani poll and must have been humbled after defeat. “Interestingly, they also said the Kamukunji by-election would give an indication of what to expect next year. Now that ODM has been trounced again, is this confirmation that the party is doomed? I hope they’ve learnt their lesson,” he says.

It’s monkey business. All the talk in TV adverts about the yu network being a “No Monkey Business” is false, says Shafiq Taibjee. To him, theirs is nothing but monkey business. He has a yu modem, but has to put up with the agony of having no Internet connection. “Despite several complaints to the head office and an exchange of emails, they don’t seem bothered. Yet when you call the customer help line, instead of solving your problem they desperately want you to take up another one of their offers.” His contact is Tel. 0721668885 or staibjee@gmail.com.

Rein in these rogues. Three to four cars fitted with Formula 1-type exhaust pipes have been wreaking havoc at Parklands and Westlands, Nairobi, says Shobna Shah. “They seem to enjoy joy driving until the wee hours, causing others sleepless nights. Their parents must be very rich, considering the fast-rising fuel prices.” Sobhna wants police and Nema officials to rein in the rogue young drivers who have invaded Third Avenue Parklands and Mpaka Road into Westlands.” For the details, Shobna’s contact is shobu@futurenet.co.ke.
Have a considerate day, won’t you!
