- Bishop says loss was sad since the accident could have been avoided
Hundreds of mourners attended the memorial service for victims of last week’s road accident which killed 23 members of one village.
The service was conducted by Bishop Martin Kivuva of Machakos Catholic Diocese who led other spiritual leaders in the memorial Mass.
The Bishop said it was a big loss not only to the bereaved families but also for this country, adding that it was very sad to lose lives in an accident that could have been avoided.
Bishop Kivuva urged public service vehicle drivers to be careful when ferrying passengers and the mourners to pray for the bereaved.
“My prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones. May God bless them all and bring them new love and new hope during this difficult time,’’ the Bishop said.
Royal Services Media chairman Samuel Macharia blamed the government for not enforcing traffic rules commonly known as the ‘Michuki rules’.
Also present during the memorial service was former MP for Kibwezi Kalembe Ndile.
