While addressing the press in Eldoret, the 33 civil leaders and a further 21 local leaders in the North Rift argued that Mr Ruto and his allies had already declared in public their interest in UDM.
We are telling Mr Ruto and his allies to stop using communities as a bargaining tool for political power.
It is “hypocritical for the rebel MPs to continue working under the banner of ODM when their mind was already set elsewhere” said the civic leaders.
The leaders supported the party's decision to replace errant nominated civic leaders stating the action was long overdue.
“We cannot sit back and watch a few individuals wreck the party, they should go and staunch supporters of the party replace them”, the leaders said.
“As a matter of fact, these Councillors have not been attending meetings organised by the party, so why should they continue drawing salaries in the name of ODM”, they added.
