Also interrogated for the second time are people who are said to have seen the body, including the woman who said she saw Mercy being thrown out of a Mercedes Benz. The owner of the car was also called for the second time last week. Amongst the 27 interrogated so far are Juja MP William Kabogo, his bodyguards, Belgut MP Charles Keter who demanded full investigations on behalf of the family, and Wycliffe Lugwiri a businessman whose car was linked to the murder.
Police have until this Friday to conclude their investigations, according to a directive given to them by Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko. Earlier police investigations had concluded that Ms Keino who had attended a party in Westlands died after she was run over by a motorist. The DPP said that investigations done by the police so far had a number of areas that needed to be addressed in order to assist him form a conclusive opinion and give appropriate directions.
The probe aims to obtain statements from a number of identified witnesses, according to the police. According to the officers, they have been recording further statements by some witnesses that had previously recorded their statements, compilation of crime scene and forensic evidence and review and analysis of CCTV footage.
