Mr Kenyatta, who is also the Finance minister, told the leaders to go for a joint nomination and  support the one who emerges the winner.

Unity call
Environment minister John Michuki, who convened the meeting at Murang’a Teachers College, asked the region to rally behind Mr Kenyatta.
“President Kibaki will retire next year and the region (Central) will be left to fight if it will not rally behind one presidential candidate,” said the Kangema MP.
He urged the leaders from the region to unite. Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Gichugu MP Martha Karua have declared they would go for the top seat.
Last week, Ms Karua declared in the presence of President Kibaki that she would vie for the presidency.
She invited other candidates for a duel, sentiments that led the President to call on the leaders to tone down their campaigns.
