Share/Save/Bookmark We are told that some MPs have been digging into the past records of the people who have been nominated to be members of the selection panel which will recruit members of the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. Some legislators are seeking evidence to show that some of the nominees have either sought elective positions or are planning to do so come 2012 which they want to use to knock them out of the running. Parliament is expected to start scrutinizing the list of nominees this week.

Did he jump or was he pushed? The intrigues going on ahead of the Nairobi mayoral elections are reportedly the reason why one of the top contendors for the post, Mutunga Mutunga pulled out of the race late last week. The surprisingly turn of events came about when a city PNU MP and some councillors 'poisoned' the mind of the party leadership and put paid any chance of Mutunga becoming the PNU nominee. Our moles tell us that the MP and councillors said there was no chance a councillor whose roots were not in slopes of Mt Kenya can deliver the mayoral seat to the party.
