The Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) has rejected ODM claims that it is partisan after it returned the list of nominated councillors that excluded Eldoret North MP William Ruto's allies.
In a statement to the newsroom, IIEC says their were anomalies that had been pointed out in the list of councillors that ODM submitted for revocation.
"The Commission has communicated to the ODM secretariat on these circumstances which led to the recalling of the list and hopes that the issue will now be resolved as guided by the law," read the statement.
ODM had also written to the IIEC asking for deregistration of some of its party members following a resolution by ODM’s National Executive Council (NEC).
In response, IIEC states it wrote back to the ODM secretariat requesting ask for the minutes of the meeting that made the resolutions as required by the law and is awaiting the same.
IIEC argues that for one to be nominated as a councillor, one must meet the conditions for eligibility for the position. He/she must be registered as a voter in the local authority or county council for which he/she is being nominated to. The nominee must also be a member of the political party nominating him or her.
