Former Cabinet Minister Dr Newton Kulundu died early on Sunday at the Nairobi Hospital.
A family member told Capital News that the former Lurambi MP passed away at about 5 am after a long illness.
“He has died, he has been admitted in hospital for almost one month now but it is unfortunate he has passed away,” the family member said.
He had been admitted at the hospital for almost a month following a long illness, the family source added.
She said family and friends were meeting at the Kenya School of Law (KSL) at the residence of his brother.
“That is where all the arrangements are being made from, since it happened this morning, there is very little that has been planned so far,” the family source who was traveling from Kakamega to join the rest of the relatives in Nairobi said on telephone.
He leaves behind a widow and six children. Two of his children are studying and working in America and South Africa while two are in local universities.

Since then, he went out of public limelight.
Dr Kulundu has previously worked at the Ministry of Health from 1977 to 1984. He attended Kakamega High School (1965-68) and later Kenyatta College in 1969-70.
