KALONZO WITH THE LIONS

The government appreciates the input of international Non- Governmental Organisations in its development programmes, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka said on Tuesday.

Mr Musyoka said leading NGOs play a significant role in provision of various amenities, among them education, health and recreational facilities.

He particularly paid tribute to Lions Club International for its contribution in treatment of eye ailments in Kenya.

The Vice President expressed these sentiments in his Jogoo House office when he received the President of the International Association of Lions Clubs, Lion Eberhard Wirfs.

Mr Musyoka reaffirmed the government’s commitment to partner with the lions clubs in the provision of essential services to Kenyans.

Lion Wirfs appealed to governments in Africa to cooperate with Lions Clubs in the development of various projects aimed at providing better services to its citizens adding that the charitable organisation was willing to work with them.

He singled out the “Lion Quest” programme which he said is tailor-made to train the youth on various life skills.

Present were International Director, Lion Dr. Ton Soeters, Past International Director and Global Membership Leader, Lion Manoj Shah, District Governor, Lion Vasakha Singh Sabharwal, Past Council Chairperson, Lion Rajinder Sembi and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Affairs, Dr Ludeki Chweya among other dignitaries.
