The young man who made his father glow with pride

My family loves its privacy

By Gardy Chacha
After his presidential campaign launch, many noticed Kenneth’s family for the first time. They sat next to each other and were seemingly graceful in their demeanour.
“I am a father and a husband,” he says. “My family is small  and loves its privacy. I try as much as possible to prevent my political life from infringing on that.”
At the launch, Andrew, Kenneth’s son, emerged a sensation after a speech in which he fervently poured praise on his father. Kenneth says, “Andrew has made his own name and he looks much like he is already defining what he stands for. He makes me happy and proud when I see him making progress. It’s surprising that today he is a hit on social media.
“My son and daughter have grown and they are in charge of how much of their lives come into the public,” he says.
Kenneth’s work has meant that he sometimes stays away from his family. However, in his busy schedule, he makes time for them. The much he loves and cares for his family strongly showed in his speech during his campaign launch when he apologised for the time demands of his job has put on him; leading to him spending less time with them.
Every evening, he says — after work — he is home by 10pm to attend to his family roles. While in public, they’ve always maintained a close-knit touch and that’s what is important to Kenneth.
He would like to see his son and daughter prosper. “I will always make myself available for them. Andrew seems geared for something but he has to finish his education first.”
As much as he is in the presidential race, Kenneth maintains that he won’t forget the family ‘job’.
