A top official in the Ministry of Lands is reportedly at the centre of the illegal transfer of a building on Nairobi's River Road which is currently occupied by the owner. Crafty senior Lands officials working in cahoots with "a private developer" have prepared an allotment letter for the plot LR 209/2490/5, had it surveyed afresh and gone ahead to sell it off ignoring complaints by the owner who on February 1 wrote to the Lands minister James Orengo to complain about the "grabbing" of his property. The Lands officials have gone ahead to issue a new title deed to another person!

A flamboyant MP and a little known lawyer nearly came to blows when they disagreed on how to share Sh5 million cash given to them by the embassy of a North African country. According to our mole, the MP sought and was granted an appointment at the embassy. He took along the lawyer whom he introduced as his cousin. They were given the cash after they promised to lobby other MPs and run interference on behalf of the embassy if and when issues relating to that country arise. When they left the embassy, the MP attempted to take a larger share of the money claiming it was his idea, much to the chagrin of the lawyer who thought they should share it equally.

It was all nice and dandy when the United Democratic Front Party made a big presentation as its officials went to apply for registration at the Registrar of Political Parties. But things started falling apart when the scores of youth decked out in the party's T-shirts and caps did not get their "dues". To avoid what could have been an unpleasant situation, five MPs who described themselves as "friends of the party" quickly got into taxis which whisked them away to safety at a hotel in Upper Hill.
