Man runs amok, hacks wives to death

A man went berserk and hacked to death his two wives in Ngowo village in Baringo.
Shock and grief gripped the village when the villagers found mutilated bodies of the two women by the roadside on Tuesday evening.
According to those who witnessed the incident, the two women were on their way home from the farm when they were accosted by their husband and hacked to death.
"It was around 6pm when we heard screams and we rushed to the scene only to find the bodies lying in a pool of blood," one of the witnesses told The Standard.
It is alleged that the suspect identified as Joseph Korir, armed with a panga, attacked Ms Kimoi Chepyator and beheaded her.
The second woman identified as Kimoi Chirchir on sensing danger started fleeing but the assailant caught up with her and slashed her several times on the head and hands leaving her for dead.
The two succumbed to injuries as the residents attempted to rush them to hospital.

The assailant then surrendered himself to the DO.
Baringo OCPD Ndung’u wa Ikonya said the motive behind the killings was yet to be established, as the man was unable to communicate during interrogations.
Mr Ndung’u that the man showed symptoms of a person of unsound mind, but said the court will determine if he would undergo mental examination.
The OCPD said the bodies of the two were ferried to Kabarnet District Hospital mortuary.
