VP will show up at G7 events approved by his team and that of Uhuru and Ruto
Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka will not go to G7 Alliance rallies that have not been approved by a joint team of his allies and those of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto.
The Wiper Democratic Movement on Monday also announced that it had directed Mr Kalonzo, its leader, to continue consulting other politicians even as he forged ahead with plans to build an alliance with Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto.
“A joint committee chaired by acting Finance Minister Njeru Githae has been formed with the sole responsibility of organising meetings and rallies.
We have directed our party leader that he only attends rallies approved by this committee,” WDP vice chairman David Musila said.
This development came as the Nation also learnt that Mr Musyoka’s allies who met in Naivasha on Saturday told him to continue attending “some of the G7 rallies”. And those he could not attend, he should always send representatives.
Mr Musila said they were aware of “elements within the G7 Alliance” that want to sideline the VP but he would not “succumb”.
“There were minor misunderstandings arising from the Machakos rally but after the Friday meeting, we understand they were ironed out,” he said.
He was speaking to journalists after a joint WDM parliamentary group and national executive council meeting at the party headquarters.

The Vice President, who attended the meeting, did not speak and left for another with Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa, who is also a G7 Alliance leader. Mr Wamalwa has consistently said the VP is still in the alliance.
Trouble rocked the alliance last week after allies of Mr Kenyatta and Mr Ruto called on the VP to take action against Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo over his stand that the two should not vie for the presidency because of their ICC cases.
On Monday, Mr Kilonzo said that he would not change his stance. “They can shout from the top of Mt Kenya or from the bottom of the Indian Ocean, but I will not change my position,” Mr Kilonzo told journalists at the KICC. (READ: Storm over Kalonzo: Why he's unwanted)
