A group of MPs is promising a fresh start for the country if they are offered top leadership positions in this year’s election.
The group led by Mandera Central MP Abdikadir Mohammed said leadership offered by the so called ‘third force’ would be a departure from the past especially in terms of overhauling the education sector and fighting corruption.
Mr Mohammed urged Kenyans to seize the opportunity to reform the executive and legislature in line with changes already made in the judiciary and other organs of the government under the Constitution.
Accompanied by assistant ministers Kabando wa Kabando, and Nderitu Mureithi and nominated MP George Nyamweya, Mr Mohammed promised to tackle corruption and reform the education sector to ensure more pupils transit to secondary schools.
The MPs said serious thought should be spared for thousands of students who do not make it to secondary schools every year, saying the country cannot develop unless a majority attained at least 14 years of basic education.

Focused leaders
The legislators are promising to reign in on corruption, claiming reliable figures from the tax collector indicate Sh300 billion is pilfered every year by corrupt leaders.
"By electing focused leaders who will fight corruption, such money can be directed to improving educational standards,” said Mr Kabando.
The MPs were speaking in Mukurwe-ini during a mentorship programme for over 100 university students in the area sponsored by the constituency bursary fund.
The third force is fronting Mr Mohammed for the State House job.
Mr Nyamweya said there was need to rethink the education system, saying the current 8-4-4 system led to wastage of dreams due to high dropout rate after secondary school.
