Corridors has it that one of the persons in the 15-member committee that Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka recently unveiled to help him in his presidential campaigns has declined the job. The reason is that the man is already a member of another team strategising for a different presidential hopeful. The man is said to be looking for a polite way to formally communicate the message to the VP.

Still on the presidential hopefuls and their machinations: in an attempt to secure victory in the next general election, we are told a contender has recruited a former senior official of Uganda's Lords Resistance Army (LRA) to assist him in campaign strategy. The presidential hopeful has reportedly secured an apartment for the man in a Nairobi estate and has been footing all his bills.

That Kenya Defence Forces spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir goofed when he tweeted photos published in 2009 was the subject of all manner of discussions on social networks. While some were shocked outright by the blunder, others said they do not trust what the military is telling them. They branded Chirchir 'Major Cheat Cheat'.

Some MPs associated with Eldoret North MP William Ruto have been forcing UDM officials to quit their party and join URP en masse. The MPs also tried – and failed – to force the officials to empty all UDM's bank accounts "since we are no longer welcome". Meanwhile, Ruto's new party URP (United Republican Party) continues to be the butt of jokes (URP), with several interpretations of its acronym doing the rounds on social networks – Ukiona Ruto Potea,Ugonge Raila Punch, United Rejects Party, United Rebels Party, Ujinga Rahisi Party!
