An MP said to be a business partner of one of the suspects in the gold smuggling scam has reportedly compiled a dossier on some of the top cops whom he claims have been providing protection to the smugglers. The dossier allegedly contains recorded phone conversations between the smugglers and the cops as well as documents proving joint business ventures. The MP has said he will table the documents and other evidence once Parliament resumes its sessions end of January. What is interesting, however, is the fact his partner's name is conspicuously missing from the dossier raising questions about his motive for tabling it. Those in the know tell us the MP wants to frighten off the cops from investigating his business partner.

Our moles tell us some of the junior officers are unhappy with one of their bosses who has been influential in the promotion of police from his community. They claim that 30 out of the 70 promotions were from the man's community and cite the appointments of those heading the forensics department; the ballistics, the bomb and explosives, documents and Criminal Record Office (CRO) as skewed in favour of officers from his tribe!

The two reportedly diverted the three containers of clothes which they were giving out to people in their villages over the Christmas holidays. The donations were made to the organisation to help it in its family planning awareness campaigns.

Landlords in Embu town have become increasingly frustrated by the habit of some lawyers who hire their premises but fail to pay the rent. The lawyers not only delay the rent for their offices but usually take the landlords to court if they dare demand the payment of outstanding rent. Several landlords have now decided not to rent their premises to lawyers.
