Initial investigations point to an electric fault
Fire Fighters battled a huge fire at the Ukwala supermarket along Nairobi's Ronald Ngala Street.
The fire broke out at midnight and took fire fighters over seven hours to contain it. Police say the fire destroyed two floors of the supermarket which are stocked with  household items.
Police sealed off Ronald Ngala Street in order to control traffic around the affected area.
Peter Bosire of the KK security fire crew said they were assessing the damage caused by the fire.
Rohit Shah a director of the supermarket says the fire destroyed property worth millions of shillings. Shah said the mattresses and plastic items on first and second floors may have fueled the inferno.
Initial investigations indicate the fire was caused by an electric fault.
