Obama may visit Kenya in September

By Standard Reporter and APIThere are strong indications that US President Barack Obama may visit Kenya on September 14. Chatter on social websites picked up on a story from the Africa Press International website quoting an unnamed source confirming the visit.
"This is good news for Kenya and those who identify with him in the country. A long-awaited visit to Kenya by President Barack Obama will now take place on the 14th of September this year, a reliable source has revealed," said the posting on the website.
Confirmation of the same from the US Embassy was not immediately available but an independent source told The Standard the likely date would be October and not September. If true, the visit would come only months after the killing of Osama bin Laden and last week’s†killing in Somalia of Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, the man who masterminded of the bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
"Obama is going to Kenya and Tanzania as a show of solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones during the bombings," reported API.
During his visit to Kenya, he is expected to meet relatives of those who died in the bombing of the US embassy in Nairobi, before crossing the border to Tanzania to pay his respects to those who perished in a similar attack in that country.
If true, then a visit to Kogelo village, the homestead of his father is more than likely and will be eagerly awaited by many Kenyans who have longed just such an even from the time Obama was elected President
