Share/Save/Bookmark The Rev Mutava Musyimi, MP for Gachoka, on Saturday returned to the Nairobi Baptist Church where he started his career as a preacher to announce he will run for the presidency next year. Mutava started his pastoral work at the Nairobi Baptist Church in 1975 at the age of 27. He had invited the "youth" in the church to the meeting through the social networking so they can pray together and seek spiritual guidance.
Mutava said for a long time time he has been thinking about taking responsibility after watching with grief the rot in leadership. He said President Kibaki had done a great job as a leader, but much more needed to be done for the nation to move forward.
Mutava said Saturday's event was not an official launch for his presidential bid but had to break the news first to the people he started walking with and next his Gachoka constituents as a mark of respect. He will launch his bid for the top job in July or early August.
