Share/Save/Bookmark Suspended Higher Education minister William Ruto and Tourism minister Najib Balala want Kenyans to shift attention from the Ocampo Six and deal with crucial issues in the country.
Ruto says the ICC cases are a small matter that can be dealt with adding that Kenyans should stop worrying about the fate of the suspects. Ruto said the debate on the ICC cases should not be allowed to dominate every aspect of life in the country.
Ruto and Balala said Kenya should not rely on foreigners to decide on key issues in the country, including the handling of the post-election violence suspects at the ICC.
Ruto and Balala, along with two other ODM MPs, criticised proposals by a section of leaders to have holders of some of the constitutional offices in the country outsourced from other countries.
Balala said leaders in the country need to decide on how to deal with the ICC cases and at the same time pursue peace and reconciliation.“If its about punishment, then all of us who participated in the last elections are guilty. We should ask ourselves whether we should pursue punishment for a few or stop dealing with peace and reconciliation,” said Balala.
Ruto said Kenya had adequate and qualified manpower capable of running the constitutional offices including the office of the CJ, AG and Commissioner General of police.“They should give us a break because it is unthinkable for us to have foreigners heading our key institutions like the police when we have highly qualified people in this country,” said Ruto.
They were speaking during a prize-giving day in Eldoret town. Also present were MPs Aden Dwale and Isaac Ruto, Deputy PC Wanyama Musiambo among others.
Duale accused ODM top leadership of benefitting from the mass action which Kenyans undertook after the post election violence and later on turning round to sacrifice its own members.
