UNITY

Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has appealed to Kenyans to remain united as people of one nation despite the many challenges facing them including the divergent views over the proposed constitution.

Mr. Musyoka said Kenyans will once again come together after the constitutional referendum and urged wananchi not to be divided by their views or opinions of the proponents of either sides of the debate.

He strongly said that the government was not taking the incident slightly and will pursue every lead that would bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to book.

The Vice President made the remarks during a cocktail reception in honor of the Hannes Seidel Foundation outgoing Resident Representative, Dr. WolfKrug who is has completed his tour of duty in the country.

The Farewell party that was held at the Serena was also attended by the Germany Ambassador to Kenya Margit Hellwig-Boette, UNEP Executive Director and under Secretary General, Achim Steiner, Prof. Nick Wanjohi, Private Secretary to President Mwai Kibaki and Dr. Helmut Danner representing the Head of the Institute for International Co-operation, Hanns Seidel Foundation and Home Affairs Permanent Secretary Dr. Ludeki Chweya among other guests.

The Vice President thanked the Hanns Seidel Foundation for their role in political democracy in Kenya and expressed hope that Kenyan nation will continue to embrace the true spirit of democracy with respect for individual opinions without hatred.

Mr. Musyoka noted that the foundation has been at the forefront in civic education and overall development of multiparty democracy and respect for human rights.
