NOT LOVE

Love is not the main reason couples stay together in marriage, the Infotrak survey reveals. According to the new report, only two in every five couples (42 per cent) are in marriage for the sake of the love they have for each other.

Most couples (62 per cent) continue to live as husband and wife and under the same roof due to the children they have born together.
Another 45 per cent fear to lose the privileges that come with financial support and ownership of property.

This revelation relegates matters of the heart to the periphery and is the more reason three in every 10 partners cannot choose their spouses for marriage again, if given a second chance.

A major reason for this is that they feel they have not received enough love as they may have anticipated and therefore will not mind looking elsewhere for this precious feeling.

The love dimension rears its ugly head again when it comes to separation.
