NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20 - The first Kenya Airways flight out of Europe is expected to depart Amsterdam for Nairobi on Tuesday evening.
A statement from the airline said KQ117 was expected to depart from the Netherlands at 1700hrs Kenyan time bound for the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The airline said it would communicate further flights once they were given the go-ahead.
The news came as Dutch airspace partially re-opened on Tuesday morning after closure due to the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland.
A spokesman from the transport inspection authority IVW said: "The airspace is open but not for all flights", Wilma Okkerse told AFP.
"We are looking to see if each plane can take off or not ... We are monitoring the situation every hour and then take action," she said.
Dutch airspace had been closed from 1600 GMT on Thursday because of the cloud of volcanic ash.
Over 30 intercontinental flights by the Dutch airline KLM were expected Tuesday at Amsterdam-Schiphol airport, according to a statement from the company.
Three KLM flights carrying passengers left Amsterdam-Schiphol airport Monday evening for Shanghai, Dubai and New York.
