Press release on rejection of Amb. Dr. Monica Juma as a nominee - Secretary to the cabinet
The Kenya national assembly committee on security and administration report on nomination of Jmb. Dr. Monica Juma was disturbing and blatantly driven by malice and selfish interests.
The report was tailored to cause embarrassment and portray amb. Monica juma as incompetent yet she is one of the most qualified in the jubilee government to say the least.
The jubilee government is seemingly in the mood of putting user friendly individuals in positions of influence as part of their overal strategy towards 2017 elections.
Amb. Monica was a very able ambassador to the African union commission and Ethiopia before joining the jubilee government.
In that capacity she demonstrated high level of diplomacy and prefessional competence. Indeed she was able to mobilize africa to support kenya’s request for deferral of the icc cases. This is how she earned her recongnition in the current government.
Therefore, the committee’s report was clearly manipulated and influenced by the Government to reject her nomination as the secretary to the cabinet for their selfish interests.
As the President’s nominee, the president himself demonstrated no support to amb. Monica’s candidature, as a result of which, tna took the cue from him.
Therefore since amb. Monica was vetted; we will wait to see if she will be reinstated as principal secretary.
