Mudavadi Got It All Very Wrong
For how long should someone be in politics to understand that there is nothing given on a silver platter? Politics is about numbers and struggle. Surely, the likes of Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi must know this.
I sympathised with Mudavadi when he claimed in Nyeri during his ‘meet the people’ tour soon after he was dumped by Jubilee Coalition, that he had been promised by Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto of their support as the presidential candidate. It seemed he feared to go through a competitive nomination process.
By comparing the consensus manner in which CORD alliance picked its flag bearer, Mudavadi forgot that even if Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka had gone through the delegate system of picking leaders, Raila could have won by far. He should understand that the consensus way of nominating the Jubilee coalition presidential flag bearer is undemocratic.
