Prime Minister Raila Odinga was last night admitted at Nairobi Hospital after he reportedly suddenly fell ill after arriving at his Nairobi home from a rally in Narok County. A close family source told The People that Raila was rushed to the hospital and admitted at the North Wing, but did not disclose details of what he was suffering from. The family source said Raila was taken to hospital shortly after 8pm where he was bound to spend the night. Details from the hospital on his condition were not available last night, with the family source saying his doctors were being awaited before treatment could commence. Raila yesterday spent the day at Ololulung’a in Narok South and other areas in the county, where he held rallies for the Cord coalition.SATURDAY, 15 DECEMBER, 2012
In his speech, he dispelled fears that if he won the presidency he would tax all idle agricultural land, clarifying that he meant public utility land that has been leased freely for commercial purposes. Raila on Thursday agreed with his Cord alliance colleagues on their 2013 presidenntial election line-up formula, where he would bearer, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka his running mate and Moses Wetangula the Majority Party leader. The agreement is bound to be announced in a rally at Uhuru Park on December 22, next week. n June 2010, Raila was ad- mitted at the same hospital where he underwent a head surgery to remove fluid from his brain. The admission was initially attributed to exhaustion after the PM had been pushing a hectic campaign schedule for the referendum for a new constitution. Raila was then admitted at the hospital’s North Wing and treated for what doctors said was an operation to relieve pressure from his brain. His doctors, including the veteran neurosurgeon Oluoch Olunya, who carried out the operation, said he had suffered exhaustion. The surgery, the doctors said, was to remove some fluid that was accumulating in the Prime Minister’s brain. Raila, 67, is making his third bid for the presidency.
