Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto Sunday signed an agreement with Narc party to address its agenda on health, poverty, education, food and water if they form the next government.
Narc party leader Charity Ngilu, who dropped out of the presidential race, said she decided to stick with Jubilee alliance after tabling her party’s proposals to be taken on board in the next government by Uhuru and his team.
“We need quality and affordable health care and education for children and youth of this nation. It is also quite saddening that more than two million people have no access to food while another 16.4 million lack clean water. Access to clean water can help eradicate some of the preventable diseases,” said Ngilu.
She added: “These are the issues as Narc Kenya we had taken on board and we now want assurance from Jubilee that they would address them within five years in government.”
Ngilu who was speaking during the Jubilee rally held at Kasarani grounds said she also needed confirmation that women would be empowered to play a development goal in the country and that every Kenyan will be engaged in meaningful activities that would enable them afford a decent livelihood.
While Uhuru and Ruto signed the agreement before the gathering, Ngilu said she had complete faith on the duo to take the country to the next level of political and economic stability.
“My party needed to see a clear agenda for the country that would help end the suffering of the people and Jubilee is my preferred coalition to work with and for the nation,” Ngilu said.
She also called on Ruto to replace traditional methods of farming in rift valley especially among maize growers with modern techniques.
