Kimaiyo sworn in as Inspector General of Police

Mr David Kimaiyo, a former director of police operations, has been sworn in as the Inspector - General of Police.
The oath took place at Chief Justice Willy Mutunga's office.
Mr Kimaiyo's first assignment will be to join a security team led by Internal Security minister Katoo ole Metito that will travel to Tana River County.
The death toll in the latest violence in the area stands at 40.
Mr Kimaiyo’s name was forwarded to the Office of the President for gazettement on Friday last week by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr Justin Bundi.
Other major assignments the government wants the new police boss to tackle include the violence in Eastleigh, Garissa and Baragoi. He is also expected to deal with the Shabaab menace.
Kimaiyo is expected to unify the regular unit and the Administration Police.
