Two Cabinet ministers allied to ODM have said other political parties are welcome to Cord even as its three coalition leaders prepare to unveil their line up on Saturday.
Public Service Minister Dalmas Otieno and his Medical Services Counterpart Anyang’ Nyong’o noted that they are open to negotiations with political parties.
“Our doors are still open. We welcome political parties that believe in democracy with a view of cementing the reform process,” noted Dalmas, who was part of the negotiating team that cobbled the pre-election deal.
Speaking at Orange House when they received defectors from various parts of the country, Prof Nyong’o challenged the electoral commission to extend the deadline for the registration of voters.
He maintained that one month was not adequate to register 18 million voters, insisting that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission should take responsibility for starting the exercise late.
Nyong’o blamed the commission for the low turnout noting that the it had few registration centres.
