Monday November 5, 2012 - News tricking in indicates that the Kalenjin Council of Elders have disowned the much touted alliance between Deputy Prime Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North William Ruto saying their interests will not be safeguarded in TNA.
In a meeting held in Eldoret town on Monday, the elders who are from Uashin Gishu and Nandi Counties led scathing attacks at the mooted alliance of Uhuru and Ruto saying it is not based on interest of the communities but selfish personal interest.
The elders said the Kalenjin community's interests are better taken care of in the hands of Prime Minister Raila Odinga than of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.
The leaders urged Eldoret North MP to stop misleading the community for his selfish political gains.
Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who was at the meeting, thanked the elders for taking a tough position and promised to work with area leaders in drumming up support for his bid for Presidency.
This comes after there were allegations on Sunday that Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta is paying Kalenjin MPs Sh 100, ooo per sitting to support his presidential bid.
