ODM secretary general Anyang' Nyong'o and a host of Luo MPs have initiated talks for Prime Minister Raila Odinga's elder brother Oburu Oginga and Lands minister James Orengo to strike a deal over the Siaya county seats. Our mole on the Orange party whispered to us that if it goes through, Oburu will go for Siaya governor as Orengo vies for senator. The mole says however Raila is not involved in the talks.

Anxiety has gripped Vigilance House as the names of several top cops who had applied for the position of Inspector General are missing from the shortlist. Several senior cops were overheard discussing the prospects of having a civilian head of police. One said it seems that's what the powers that be have in mind.

A minister who wants to vie for senator organised a harambee in a hotel situated in Upper Hill, Nairobi, last week to raise funds for his campaign. The man invited friends, family and colleague MPs for the Sh100,000 a plate dinner. A host of MPs from his region boycotted the dinner saying the man has enough from 'deals' in the crucial docket he holds. They dismissed the fundraiser as a gimmick to make fun of them.

Talking of harambees, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta who was slated to be chief guest at a dinner to raise funds for Energy Minister Kiraitu Murungi's campaigns at Safari Park Hotel last week failed to show up. Our mole tells us the DPM snubbed the invite as his presence could have been interpreted to mean he was endorsing Kiraitu for Meru senator. "What if he attends the dinner, will the DPM also be able to attend all the aspirants' events?" an aide to Uhuru told the Star.
