The WORLD shocked by the cost of Kenyan MPs seats


Thursday August 9, 2012-The just purchased parliamentary seat have brought a lot of criticism all over the world.

Barely a day after President Mwai Kibaki opened the new chamber, British Media was abuzz with how Kenyan MPs are corrupt and selfish by a purchasing seat worth Sh250,ooo each.

The chairs that weigh 50Kg each have been installed in the new chamber of parliament at a cost of Sh 85 million which translates to the most costly parliamentary seats in the world.

Comments such as “I am glad they can now sleep comfortably” “the seats must be the Mercedes of all seats!”; “African parliamentarians are so blind to the need of their people, all they want is to siphon money”; and “one chair could feed a village for a week or two all appeared on BBC website within hours after being published.

The BBC also reported that Kenyan MPs are the most highly paid MPs in the world and their leaders keep begging money in major foreign countries capitals.
