SHOCKING!! DETAILS of the politics in University of Nairobi (UoN) – SHAME on these PEOPLE and the STAR

Friday, August 24, 2012 - University of Nairobi Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance) Prof Peter Mbithi was a month ago involved in a family scandal that almost ruined his name. According to his family, Mbithi had destroyed the perimeter wall of his brother’s property in Kangundo on several occasions and had also been accused of enticing his niece to have sex with him.

News just in indicates that all those allegations were false and just a plot by a group of Dons in the University of Nairobi to spoil his name and bar him from taking over Prof G.A.O. Magova’s office when his term ends in 2013.

Mbithi, a renowned veterinary surgeon has been serving the university fraternity for a long period and he is seen as the only candidate for the Vice Chancellor’s seat.

The group of dons involved in the scandal are UON Chancellor Prof Manavu, Prof Mbeche and Prof Kaimenyi. The dons used Peter Kiragu of the star newspaper to leak the story.

Quoted below is a section of leaked text messages from the dons to the journalist:
Prof. Munavu on 03/07/2012 to Peter Kiragu: ‘I have something to share with you. When can we meet, ASAP, please?’

Kiragu’s reply: ‘Let’s have a meeting at 10 am tomorrow to discuss the details of your SMS.”

Prof. Munavu replied: ‘Can we meet at 11am tomorrow please.’

Prof. Mbeche on 04/07/2012: ‘Notify him of the situation; some of the details will be forwarded to your e-mail.’

Peter Kiragu replied on 12/07/2012: ‘Kindly, I acknowledge your e-mail. Working on the interviews and doing my investigations.”

Peter Kiragu wrote on 15/07/2012: ‘Check tomorrow’s paper.’

Professor Manavu replied on 15/07/2012: ‘Thanks. Noted.’

Prof.Mbeche also said on 15/07/2012: ‘It will be on paper tomorrow.’

Prof.Kaimenyi texted on 16/07/2012, texted: ‘Will look at the explosive details.’

On the same day Kaimenyi wrote to Mbeche and Manavu : ‘Looked at it. A good start though. Let’s discuss.’
Peter Kiragu texted Manavu on 18/07/2012: ‘Can we meet in a week.’
The same day, Prof.Munavu responded: ‘I’ll confirm with you if you don’t mind. Working on more stories.’

Peter Kiragu replied: ‘OK’
Prof.Munavu texted his conspirators on 20/07/2012: ‘Check the story next week on grapevine; The Anchor magazine’

Prof.Mbeche texted back: ‘Noted’

And this was basically the start of their well planned games. The story of Mbithi’s acts was published all over the media though he remained mum about it and through his lawyer denied all the allegations.

Written in anchor magazine his niece who worked at the University was claimed to have been arrested and imprisoned at Langata women’s’ prison for allegedly sending Mbithi abusive text messages, all these allegations have been declared false.
