Names of nine members of the National land commission sailed through in parliament with ease
Parliament Wednesday  enormously endorsed all the nine nominees by the President to the National Land Commission.
The move now paves way for the president to gazette the nine tasked with overseeing all land matters in the country.
While approving the names, MPs urged the commission to move with speed and ensure the historical land injustices in the country are addressed.
The names of nine members of the National land commission sailed through in parliament with ease, with Mps saying the formation of the commission could not have come at a better time.
House committee on Lands and Natural resources chairman Rev Mutava Musyimi while moving the motion on the report said the commission would iron out outstanding land issues in the country.
Lands minister James Orengo said the new team would address the historical land injustices that have rocked the country for a long time.
MPs opposed to the nominees cited lack of regional balance. However, when the report was subjected to voting by Deputy Speaker Farah Mohammed, MPs enormously endorsed it.
The names will now be submitted to the president for formal appointment.
