Wednesday August 1, 2012 - Political rivalry emerged in Ruiru town on Tuesday after Juja MP William Kabogo clashed with his rival George Nyanja over Kiambu Governorship race.

The two who are eying for the same seat crashed during the opening of the National Alliance Party offices in Ruiru.

When the master of ceremony was about to call Nyanja to the podium to speak, Kabogo arrived.

The flamboyant MP was riding on a motorbike accompanied by more than 30 boda boda operators .The meeting almost came to a stand still because of the commotion.

One of the Kabogo’s supporters attempted to snatch the microphone from the MC.

“Kabogo alighted from his vehicle at about 100 metre from the venue of the meeting and hopped into a motorbike. But we were shocked to see his aide trying to snatch the microphone from the MC,”

At one time, the two camps one for Nyanja and the other one for Kabogo clashed destroying tents and seats as everybody ran for the safety.

When order returned, Nyanja tried to speak but Kabogo’s supporters shouted him down. This angered Nyanja, resulting to a bitter exchange.

“The dog that barks most is not necessarily the one that is feared the most. The one that is usually quiet is dangerous and one should be careful with it,” Nyanja said.

The meeting came to abrupt halt after Kabogo’s supporters roughed up Nyanja for that statement.

Kabogo was later overheard saying he will use all means to capture the Kiambu Governor seat.
