IMPUNITY: Ringera is back at the GOVERNMENT

IMPUNITY: Ringera is back at the GOVERNMENT

Monday August 27, 2012 - Forces of impunity seem to be trying to gain access of the Judiciary after Former Anti- Graft Czar Aaron Ringera was appointed by Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to head the Economic and International Crimes department at his office.

Ringera who is infamous for the radical judicial surgery which turned up to be surgery by radicals was hired together with renowned law scholar Prof Kithure Kindiki.

Speaking in Kericho County during a familiarisation tour, Tobiko said the United Nation office on Human Rights is among the partners backing Ringera and Kindiki’s appointments to review the national prosecution policy, the code of conduct for prosecutors and the training manual.

“The experts will be hired on a case by case basis. My office has been working with Law Society of Kenya to come up with a team of experts which will be gazetted soon,” Tobiko said.

Ringera’s past tenure at the Judiciary is tainted with mass corruption, detention without trials, undermining the Constitution when he was High Court judge during Moi‘s era.

Is the hiring of Ringera at DPP office justified?
