ODM battle as ODINGA and ORENGO collide: LOOK at what OBURU said

Monday August 27, 2012 - Political rivalry between Lands Minister James Orengo and Finance Assistant Minister Dr Oburu Odinga is threatening the future of ODM
Orengo who is MP for Ugenya and Oburu from Bondo have both launched their bids for Siaya Senate seat, a thing which has generated political tension in ODM’s campaign secretariat.

Our credible source from ODM told the DAILY POST that the efforts by the party’s top honchos to cool the standoff were fruitless and the two leaders have vowed to go on with their bids despite the ongoing talks.

“We are in talks with Orengo but that does not mean I have stopped campaigning for the seat,” Oburu said on Sunday.

“All I can say is that my candidacy is not against anybody. We are free to contest and I will not step out for anybody,” Oburu fumed.

Oburu maintained that he regularly visits his Siaya County for development oriented projects unlike his counterparts who visit the county only during the campaign period.

He said he is firmly in the race for senate seat in Siaya County.
