TWITTER big wig Robert Alai yesterday denied tweeting that government spokesman Alfred Mutua wanted to kill him. Alai is alleged to have posted “0721240443 is Alfred Mutua’s number, he is using to threaten me. “FOOLISH PIG” is drunk with power!” on the social media, a text said to be offensive to Mutua.
The blogger, who appeared before Magistrate Paul Biwott, further denied stating that “Alfred ordered for the execution of G.P Oulu and Oscar Kingara calling them Mungiki. He wants to do the same to me.” The said words were meant to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to Mutua.
Mutua had recorded a statement at the CID offices saying Alai had been peddling rumours on the social media linking him to the killings of human rights activists Oscar Kingara and Paul Oulu. The two were killed by assailants on State House Road in Nairobi in 2008 and no arrest has been made in connection with the killing. Alai released on a Sh100,000 cash bail. The case will be heard on 13 September.
