Bellingham maintained that UK not backing any Kenyan presidential candidate
Visiting United Kingdom's minister for Africa and overseas territories Henry Bellingham says alleged UK seeking to indict President Mwai Kibaki over the 2207/2008 post-election violence is a forgery.
Bellingham who was speaking after holding talks with immediate former Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetang'ula Tuesday, said that his government has no intention to seek President Kibaki's indictment terming the claims as a smear campaign.
At the same time Bellingham maintained that UK not backing any Kenyan presidential candidate adding that elections are a Kenyans affair.
" UK has no interest in any particular outcome in the general election and is it backing any particular candidate or party we are and will remain non partisan" the envoy said.
The envoy who is in the country for two day is also expected to hold talks with other senior government officials.
Yatta MP Charles Kilonzo tabled in parliament a letter he alleged was written by the British government.
The MP had further claimed that the UK was conspiring to have two suspects Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto detained when they appear before the ICC for the mention of their case.
