Yesterday, Kenyan actor Nick Mutuma was joined by Netherlands TV presenter Nikkie Plessen in Ruai where they took part in Dance 4 Life activities. Nick who has been an ambassador for Dance 4 Life for a year now spent the afternoon with students from Ruai Girls. He said, “This organisation tries to reach the young people in a way they understand. What I love about this organisation is that they inspire you. They use dance to bring the youth together and later after you have loosened up, they tell you about HIV/Aids.”
Nikkie who has been an ambassador for six years, was in the country to see how the funds raised by students in Netherlands is been used in projects here in Kenya. She has been in the country for a week now, she said that “a lot of the young people here know about the dangers that lead to the Aids infection and they know how to stop it.”
Nikkie continued: “But on the other hand, I spoke to a young lady (in Migori) who said she would sleep with an older man to get some money despite his status. She will take the risk for that one day. That was hard for me to see.” Beside yesterday’s visit to Ruai, Nick, Nikkie and the Dance 4 Life crew visited other schools like Johansson Primary School and Kadika Girls High School on March 23 in Migori. Through it's school programmes, Dance 4 Life inspires, educates and mobilises young people to lead the global dance4life movement to stop the spread of HIV and AIDS.
