The Archbishop Stephen Ondieki's family wrangling over inheritance has become even more strident. We hear that some of the children have kicked out their stepmother Concilia Ondiek following the death last year of the former Ugenya MP. One of Ondiek's daughters made her opinion known about the wrangle, which has gone to court. Last Wednesday, the daughter described the unfolding drama as straight out of a movie and posted on her Facebook wall: ‘Afro Cinema continues shortly!’

Gichugu MP Martha Karua has been put through the wringer in social media for failing to attend the funerals of Environment minister John Michuki and former Defence minister Njenga Karume. The most recurring question in many of the blogs, tweets and Facebook postings is: Did Martha miss the two ceremonies for political reasons? Karua, who hopes to be Kenya’s first woman President, has denied the reasons for her absence were political and explained the burials coincided with previous engagements she had outside the country which could not be rescheduled.

A top local authority chief from South Nyanza has been avoiding official functions because of his poor command of English and Kiswahili. The civic leader often sends his deputy or a committee chairman to represent him at public functions. Recently, the man hurriedly left his office and asked his deputy to receive visitors from the European Union who were paying him a courtesy call. The man was soon after spotted having coffee with a group of supporters at a nearby hotel.

Remember Florah Igoki Tera? She was the ODM-K aspirant for Imenti North attacked by three goons who forced her to eat faeces for daring to join the parliamentary race. Well, Tera, who sought sanctuary in Canada, is set to make a grand comeback which is expected to ruffle feathers. She has completed a documentary of her struggles which is to be screened in Nairobi in May. The name of the documentary, which we hear exposes those who betrayed her prior to and after the December 2007 election, is “Dignity in Difficulty.”
