The rumour mill has been rife on why Mavado did not come to Kenya a fortnight ago. However it is emerging that his promoters have not been telling us the truth. According to a source close to artiste, Mavado and the promoters Homeboyz could not agree on payment . “Mavado felt cheated since he realised that the promoters wanted to undercut him. They had initially told him that he was not so popular in Kenya but he later found out from the artistes who have been there before that dancehall was very big,” said the source.
“Mavado was vexed by this because he felt that the promoters wanted to undercut him. You ask yourself why the promoters went mum over the matter,” added the source. Mavado had in December cancelled the Kenya and Zimbabwe shows citing visa issues but later went to Zimbambwe towards the end of January. The promoters have since then never explained what really happened despite a lot of curiosity from fans especially on twitter.
