Tanzania's Lady Jaydee will sadly not perform at Sauti za Busara festival in Zanzibar due to health reasons. Her eagerly anticipated return to Sauti za Busara since 2006 was scheduled for February 9 but a statement from her manager Gardner G. Habesh has left the organisers with no option but to announce soon who will take to stage as the headline act. “As much as Lady Jaydee wanted to be a part of this year's Sauti za Busara, I regret to report that she is sick and her doctor advised that she must have a bed rest for not less than three months before she resume her daily activities. Lady Jaydee will not be seen on any show for the said period,” read the statement.
However, according to Tanzanian tabloids, Lady Jaydee's 'sickness' could be a bunch of joy as she is speculated to be pregnant. The singer was even admitted in a hospital abroad towards the end of last year where she told the media that it was a "disease leading to a bunch of joy". Sauti za Busara provides a platform for local musicians to experience music from other parts of Africa, while introducing East African music to the visitors.
